Meet Brain Wave's own Dr. Andrew Woodham—a scientist with an impressive journey and a mission to maximize the medicinal benefits of mushrooms. Dr. Woodham started his academic career at the University of Washington in Seattle, earning a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry while diving into research on epigenetics.
He then took his curiosity to new heights, completing a PhD in Genetics, Molecular, and Cellular Biology at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. There, he focused on the intricate connection between cancer biology and the immune system.
He went on to do postdoctoral research as a prestigious Beckman Fellow at MIT and Harvard, where he developed innovative immunotherapies for cancer while continuing his studies in immunology and cancer biology. His work has had a lasting impact, with nearly 2,000 citations to date.
In 2019, Andrew left academia to bring cutting-edge immunotherapies to life in the private sector. This career pivot eventually led him to Brain Wave, where his scientific expertise and mission to fight cancer aligned perfectly with the incredible potential of mushrooms. Dr. Woodham is especially inspired by mushrooms’ ability to enhance immunity and combat cancer—an area deeply connected to his life's work.
At Brain Wave, Dr. Woodham rigorously evaluates every claim, from the immunomodulatory and anti-cancer effects of functional mushrooms to the brain-boosting potential of Lion’s Mane, known for promoting nerve growth factor (NGF) in the brain. His meticulous vetting ensures that every Brain Wave product lives up to its promise.
But Dr. Woodham dedication doesn’t stop there. A firm believer in Brain Wave’s mission, Dr. Woodham is always eager to discuss the benefits of our products and the science behind them. His commitment helps us bring you the most effective, science-backed wellness solutions inspired by nature.
